About

A comic studio made by people who draw

zkDraw grew out of zkriva's comic workshop. It became an app of its own, made for drawing long hours, comfortably, without depending on a connection.

The zkDraw owl, painted in watercolour

Where zkDraw comes from

On zkriva, authors wrote their stories and already drew their panels in the browser. A real studio was missing: brushes that respond to pressure, layers, large pages, and a way to work on the train or in the countryside.

zkDraw keeps the brushes, icons and spirit of that web workshop, in an app that keeps each album in a single file on your disk.

A drawing engine written for comics

The engine is written in Rust: the sheet is split into tiles, each stroke is computed with its texture, and every action can be undone.

Even the owl on this page was painted by that engine, stroke by stroke, in watercolour.

What guides zkDraw

Your files belong to you

A project is an open .zkd file on your disk. No format locked inside a service.

Offline first

You never wait for the network to draw or save.

Discretion

No ads, no data sold. We keep only what your account needs.

The gesture first

Every tool is tried with a pen, on real pages, before it reaches the app.

Five languages

The app and this site in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.
